No setup required, plug and play. We have two ps4 consoles and this drive was purchased for the oldest one from 2014. It now loads faster than the 2019 model. Works great. It does make hard drive noises but not overly loud, just a normal old school computer sound. Case light is somewhat bright but at least matches the ps4. Highly recommend.
